Binance Charity, the philanthropic arm of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has launched a ₱3.5 million (approx. $61,400) relief initiative for victims of two powerful earthquakes that recently struck the Philippines.

The aid responds to a 6.9 magnitude quake in northern Cebu on Sept. 30 and a 7.4 magnitude quake offshore of Davao Oriental on Oct. 10.

The initiative includes direct financial assistance via blockchain technology and a donation to support on-the-ground relief efforts by the Philippine Red Cross.

More Details:

  • Binance Charity said it will airdrop $80 (approximately ₱4,600) in BNB token vouchers to all eligible users identified through Proof of Address (POA) in the designated disaster areas.
    • The organization said this method provides fast, transparent, and low-cost financial aid directly to those in need.
  • Eligible recipients are expected to receive the vouchers by Oct. 31, 2025.
  • A separate donation will be made to the Philippine Red Cross to provide food, water, and other essential supplies for displaced families.

“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the earthquake in Cebu, Davao Oriental, and nearby areas,” said Binance CEO Richard Teng in a statement. “We hope this assistance can offer some relief and help communities begin to rebuild.”

Teng added that the company remains “committed to using blockchain technology to deliver support quickly and transparently to those who need it most.”

The Philippine relief effort follows similar blockchain-based disaster aid programs launched by Binance Charity in response to crises in Turkey, Myanmar, Brazil, and other countries.

In 2020, Binance Charity donated the same amount worth of medical equipment to various hospitals in the Philippines as part of its Crypto Against COVID Campaign, driven by cryptocurrency donations.
